I'm a bit of a self-confessed product junkie and skincare is a really important part of my daily routine.
My number one beauty item that I have had the best results from and would recommend to anyone is my Clarisonic facial cleanser.
I got the Clarisonic Mia 2 facial cleanser about 18 months ago and it has been a constant part of my nightly routine ever since.
When I first got my Clarisonic, I used it twice a day for the first couple of days and my skin felt great. And then I got the WORST breakout ever!
I'm not going to lie, I felt like putting it in the bin at this point, especially as I had started using it just after Christmas (thanks Santa!) so I then had a lovely breakout just in time for New Year.
I then did a little Google search (what did we do before Google?) to see if anyone else had had any issues with breakouts after starting to incorporate the Clarisonic into their skincare routine.
It turns out I wasn't alone and breakouts are really, REALLY common after you start using your facial cleanser, even if you have never had a spot before in your life and ESPECIALLY if you use it twice a day like I did. The reason for the breakouts is either because your skin is being over-stimulated by the exfoliating nature of the brush head or your pressing too hard and applying too much pressure to your skin.
So, after I had read about a million reviews and blog posts about other people who had experienced breakouts after starting to use the Clarisonic, I decided to just start using mine just once a day at night time.
Almost immediately my skin started to clear up and, some 18 months later, I still only use my Clarisonic once a day.
I've switched from the normal brush head to a Deep Pore Cleansing brush head and haven't experienced problems switching and would probably go for this one again when it needs replacing.
