Stephen talked us through his long and illustrious career which began at world-famous, Central St Martin's in London.
Not only was Stephen humble and charming but he had a fabulous sense of humour and a plethora of witty stories and anecdotes which you would expect from such a colourful and celebrated hat maker to the rich and famous.
He launched his first collaboration with Debenhams in 2013 and the collection continues to grow in success each season.
unch of the new Top Hat Collection by renowned milliner, Stephen Jones OBE.
I'm a huge fan of hats anyway so it was great to chat to such an inspiring miliner who has designed hats for the likes of Christian Dior, Princess Diana, Grace Jones and L'Wren Scott.
I loved hearing Stephen's insight into the psychology of hat wearing, (cos it's a thing y'know) and he gave us some advice for feeling your best whilst wearing any one of his beautiful designs. He suggests wearing your hat around the house to get used to wearing it and almost 'breaking it in' before it makes its big debut in public.
There were lots of amazing hats in all shapes and sizes for us to try on and, being the fashion lovers that we are, we were only too happy to try them all on. It was lovely to see everyone sitting around the table on a Wednesday afternoon with the most fabulous hats on... every Wednesday afternoon should be like this.
Then I realised that hats are actually a really great way of faking confidence even if you're not feeling particularly cool, confident or chic. FYI, hats are also really great for covering up roots... The platinum blonde struggle is real!
The new Top Hat by Stephen Jones collection for Debenhams is really impressive and the prices are incredible for the level of design. They range from fun, quirky and colourful to simple, elegant and classic and they are perfect for a day at the races or a wedding.
This boater hat was my absolute favourite.
